What is JAPHNEI？

The Japan Association of Public Health Nurse Educational Institutions (JAPHNEI) is
an organization that works to ensure the quality of public health nurse education in Japan.

To improve public health by enhancing public health nurse educational institutions across Japan and enriching public health nursing education.

Activities

1. Enhance and strengthen public health nurse educational institutions
2. Serve as a liaison council for public health nurse educational institutions
3. Train faculty of public health nurse educational institutions
4. Conduct research on topics such as the system and programs of public health nurse education
5. Evaluate and accredit educational programs for public health nurses
6. Collaborate and coordinate with related groups inside and outside Japan
7. Carry out social impact projects to improve public health and promote healthy living
8. Perform other tasks required to fulfill our mission

Action plan for 2019

Slogan: Enriching public health nursing education and improving faculty quality with the aim of ensuring a higher level of education in the science of public health nursing based on nursing education curriculum.

Vision

In pursuit of our mission to improve public health by enhancing public health nurse educational institutions across Japan and enriching public health nursing education, we will conduct research on topics such as public health nursing programs and the educational system in Japan, evaluate educational outcomes, improve faculty credentials, and improve the quality of questions on the National Public Health Nursing Examination with an eye toward national trends with the aim of ensuring the quality of licensed public health nurses. We will work to enrich nursing education and ensure a higher level of education in the science of public health nursing based on nursing education curriculum.

To respond to social changes brought about by digitization and globalization and position ourselves to more quickly address the challenges faced by our member schools, we will increase the importance of our Public Relations and International Affairs Committee and start publishing a new organizational journal. In addition, in response to social changes such as healthcare reforms designed to address the aging population and declining birth rate and educational program changes such as the increasing diversity of paths to becoming a public health nurse, the Curriculum Committee, Education System Committee, and National Examination Committee will work to determine what should be covered in the study of science of public health nursing and to systematize the study. As part of our medium-term plan, we will start systematic training of faculty corresponding to their position on the career ladder and launch personalized regional block initiatives that address regional challenges. We will aim to advance the science of public health nursing and enrich public health nursing education by implementing more substantial projects that better respond to our member schools’ needs and by running our organization efficiently and effectively.Furthermore, we will be preparing projects for the 40th anniversary of the establishment of JAPHNEI in 2020.
